If the cap was smaller and could be eased, I think the sleeves would be too tight at the top of the shoulder.
The triangle piece is one part authenticity and one part my own mistake, LOL. I had originally cut the sleeves too small at the top, and since I've seen museum pieces with small triangle inserts when the pieces were altered for a larger wearer, I decided to do that rather than cutting new sleeves and wasting the silk. And also, pleats on the top of the arm instead of easing, why is That? It shows a jacket similar to this, but you can see the sleeves of her chemise poking out. The one in the painting doesn't have lace or ruffles, but typically they did and it would create a wonderful effect. =)

https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/a9/24/4a/a9244ab1ea25dd30dee4c159af6ce0be.jpg Lydia Gastrellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04024857842332775902noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6495176454984660953.post-40706540644418346152017-06-01T08:53:59.689-07:002017-06-01T08:53:59.689-07:00Lovely. I love the combination of red and brown, it's very dramatic. The jacket you posted, (the original exemplar) is lovely, but looks so short. I think the length that you've embraced is more flattering, at least. Though presumably, women were shorter back then. I also find the pocket flap detail very interesting.
